We are almost in officially in summer season and here’s what you should know starting with these Family-Friendly Summer events you won’t want to miss!
Safari in Sand: Sculptures are 6/1-8/31 at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska. Safari in Sand will feature six incredible sand sculptures depicting the many wild animals you’d encounter in a safari — think hippos, lions, and gorillas (and dozens more!) — as well as smaller sand sculptures located throughout the Village.

Take A Train Ride With Thomas The Tank Engine at Strasburg Railroad. Thomas the Tank Engine will pull your 30-minute excursion ride through the beautiful Lancaster County countryside. The Thomas ticket is all-inclusive and includes the 30-minute Thomas ride, photo opportunities with Thomas, friends, and Sir Topham Hatt, live performances on the town square stage, and all Thomas-related activities. June 14 – 16; 19 – 22, 2025 and September 13 – 14; 18 – 21, 2025. Tickets are $28 + tax for ages 3+ and you can use code DOWTFRIEND25 to take $2 off

Butterfly Festival at Colonial Gardens happens Annually and is scheduled for August 23rd, sign up for their email list because the butterflies to be released go on sale July 1st. In previous years it is $10/ Butterfly. They will be handed out in their paper encasements and everyone will release at a scheduled time. This event typically has vendors and education around butterflies. Fun for the whole family!

Christmas in July at New Hope Railroad Step aboard and be greeted by none other than Santa and Mrs. Claus for a stroll through the train, reminiscent of traditional Christmas trains. In a heartwarming gesture, Mrs. Claus will present families with a unique ornament adorned with New Hope’s logo, ensuring a memento of this magical journey (one per family). Adding to the festive atmosphere, our car host will distribute scrumptious cookies and a refreshing summer drink alongside candy canes, ensuring a sweet treat for everyone on board. To elevate your experience, our onboard bartender will roam the train, offering drinks for those wishing to indulge in holiday cheer. Our onboard staff is dedicated to making your excursion delightful. Immerse yourself in the festive spirit with musicians serenading the train with a mix of Christmas-themed and summer songs, creating a perfect soundtrack for your journey.

Kids Bowl Free is a program with 30 Pennsylvania locations, register your child and they will receive 2 free games of bowling per day from June 15th-August 31st. Want to enroll the whole family? Check out their family packages that include pricing for adults to play as well.
Summer Movies are happening at several theaters. Ranging in price from FREE to $3/ticket
Newtown Theater is offering free kid’s films once a week from June 16th-August 27th. Seating is first come first serve.
Kids Dream Film Series is back at Movie Taverns which include 9 films starting June 8th. Each one with show times Sundays-Thursdays. Tickets are $3/pp or purchase the passport and get all 8 movies for $12/pp which is a huge savings! Specially priced and size snacks available too.
Summer movie Series at RC Theaters in Reading starts June 17th, running family films Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10am for just $1/ticket
Summer Movie Camp at AMC Theaters begins 6/23 giving you kid’s films for just $3/ticket
Summer Kids Movie Series at Oaks Cinema begins June 16th with $1 movie tickets. Tickets are first come, first serve at the theater, there will be no online tickets sold.
Summer Regal Movie Express Each week from June 10 to August 6, get $1 Summer Movie Express tickets to the first show on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

I recently learned about a new play space in Lansdale thanks to a social media follower, called The Sunflower Brigade. We plan to visit soon, they have a play room, art studio, offer birthday parties and more. They are geared towards ages 2-10 and you can find their pricing below.
